Modern Times
The River Flows Both Ways: A New Era of Organizational Governance is the title of the three-day international conference on sociocracy (aka Dynamic Governance) that Yukon College, in partnership with the Center for Sociocratic Governance, will be hosting on June 14-16, 2010.

This three day conference in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada, will showcase the results of implementing SCM in Yukon College. The thirteen local First Nations groups will play an important part in the conference. Some are already exploring adding SCM to their traditional forms of governance. Also involved will be members of the City Council, principals from local schools, and business leaders. Yukon College would also like to help other organizations who may be looking for new and innovative ways of organizing and decision making.

Many attendees and presenters are expected from many other parts of North America and Europe. (It is very easy to get to Whitehorse from Europe via regular direct, nonstop flights from Frankfurt.) Most will attend the conference and then enjoy the unparalleled wilderness recreation opportunities available in The Yukon Territory.

Yukon College is the only post-secondary institution of the territory (one of the three provinces north of the 60th parallel). The Yukon territory is sparsely populated with only 32,000 people, of which 22,000 live in the capital, Whitehorse. The Territory has the highest level of post-secondary education per capita in Canada, and thrives on innovation.
