Issue 3, August 2009

Being denied: few would prefer it over being heard – no matter the context: be it at work, as a manager or  employee, or at school. The experience that one’s arguments/viewpoints are taken seriously, combined with shared responsibility for finding and executing a solution, generates creativity – in individuals, in teams, or in classrooms.

This newsletter describes a sociocratic school in The Netherlands where pupils have a say in their development. The children’s creativity sometimes leaves their teachers amazed and bemused. Let their example inspire you to use the Sociocratic Circle-organization Method (SCM) in your own situation: at home, at school, at work. In these economically challenging times, working together creatively is just what we need.
